Versus · two candy slots, two different engines

Sugar Rush vs Sweet Bonanza

Both are Pragmatic Play candy slots with tumbling wins and multipliers in free spins, so they are often mentioned together. Under the sugar they work very differently. We read both rules screens in the official demos to put them side by side.

The big difference: where multipliers come from

In Sugar Rush the board earns its multipliers. A cell has to see two winning explosions before it becomes x2, and then it doubles with each further win on it. In free spins those cells stay, so a round builds up from a bare board to a field of x8s and x32s, and the late spins are the valuable ones. Our multiplier chapter covers it in detail.

In Sweet Bonanza the multipliers fall from the sky. During free spins, rainbow candy bombs drop like other symbols and land with a random value from 2x to 100x. At the end of a tumble sequence all the bombs on screen are added together and multiply that sequence's win. Then they are gone. Every free spin starts fresh, and a single lucky bomb can matter as much as a whole round of build-up.

So Sugar Rush rewards long rounds and patience, Sweet Bonanza rewards a lucky drop on any spin.

Clusters vs pay anywhere

Sugar Rush needs its candies to touch: five lollipops scattered across the board pay nothing. Sweet Bonanza only counts: eight hearts anywhere on its 30 positions pay, touching or not. That makes Sweet Bonanza's base-game wins easier to read at a glance, and Sugar Rush's grid feel more like a puzzle. The paytables reflect it: Sweet Bonanza's wins start at 8 symbols and top out at 50x for 12+ hearts, Sugar Rush's start at 5 and reach 150x for 15+ lollipops.

Volatility: a surprise on the rules screen

Sugar Rush's rules screen says high volatility. The Sweet Bonanza demo we opened shows a low volatility badge, with the line that low volatility games pay out more often in smaller amounts while still having the chance to win big. Many players think of Sweet Bonanza as a wild game because of its 100x bombs; going by its own label, it is the calmer of the two.
