The Sugar Rush Test Kitchen
Rules screens tell you how a game is built. They don't show what playing it feels like. So we played all four Sugar Rush games in Pragmatic Play's official demos and kept every answer the game server sent back: 2,000 base spins and 74 bonus rounds.
2,000 base spins, 500 per game, all played to the end
74 bonus rounds: 60 regular buys, 10 Super buys, 4 natural triggers
x1,024 top spot multiplier we saw, twice, both in Super Scatter Super buys
2,968.1x our best round: Super Scatter, Super Free Spins buy with a 100x Super Scatter prize
How we cooked it
- Where: the official demos on Pragmatic Play's demo server, with the same rules screens and RTP settings we quote on the game pages (96.50%, 96.50%, 96.53% and 96.58%).
- How: we played through the game's own server interface, sending the same requests the game client sends when you press spin, one at a time with a pause between them. Every spin was played to the end, including all tumbles, free spins and the final collect.
- Bet: the minimum, $0.20 a spin. All results are in multiples of the bet, so the stake doesn't matter.
- Per game: 500 base spins, then 15 Free Spins buys at 100x; plus 5 Super Free Spins buys at 500x in Sugar Rush 1000 and Super Scatter. Bonuses that the base spins triggered on their own are counted as "natural".
- Super Scatter was played at its normal bet, without Ante or Super Spins. Its instant Super Scatter prizes are reported separately by the server; we added them to the round totals.
- One hiccup: the Xmas demo session expired after 304 spins. We reopened the game and played the remaining 196; the two parts are merged.
- One gap: for Super Scatter we did not record how many scatters landed on each spin, because that game encodes its symbols differently. Those cells are empty in the CSV; wins, multipliers and prizes are complete.
What this data can and cannot tell you
It shows how the games behave: how often spins pay, how long tumble chains run, how multipliers spread and how lumpy bonus results are. It cannot measure RTP: 500 spins and 15 bonuses are far too few, and a single big round moves the totals by tens of percent. Nothing here predicts your next spin.
500 base spins of each game
| Measure | Sugar Rush | Xmas | 1000 | Super Scatter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spins that paid something | 33.2% | 33.4% | 37.6% | 29.8% |
| Returned by base spins | 98.2% | 49.5% | 76.3% | 50.6% |
| …with the bonuses they triggered | 100.5% | 49.5% | 76.3% | 131.0% |
| Tumbles per winning spin | 1.89 | 1.72 | 1.75 | 1.72 |
| Longest tumble chain | 6 | 7 | 8 | 5 |
| Spins where a multiplier formed | 12.2% | 10.6% | 12.8% | 9.6% |
| Biggest base-game spot | x16 | x8 | x16 | x32 |
| Best single spin | 101.25x | 18.5x | 65.7x | 28.65x |
| Spins paying 10x or more | 9 | 6 | 7 | 5 |
| Free spins triggered naturally | 1 | 0 | 0 | 3 |
Look at the "returned" rows. The four games have almost the same RTP, yet our 500-spin samples returned anywhere from 49.5% to 131%. The difference is almost entirely bonuses: Super Scatter's three natural triggers lifted it above 100%, while Xmas, with none, sat at half. That is the best illustration we have of why short-term results say nothing about RTP.

Three patterns held in every game. The median round returned far less than its price. The mean was pulled up by one or two big rounds. And the spread was enormous: from under 1x to over 1,000x on the same 100x button. Super Scatter's buys did best in our sample, helped by Super Scatter prizes in 5 of 15 regular buys; with samples this small, that could easily reverse.
Where the multipliers ended up
When a bonus round ends, the server reports every cell that carries a multiplier. We stacked those final boards. Percentages are the share of rounds in which a cell finished multiplied; the second number is the highest value it reached.
The same shape appears four times: a busy centre, quieter edges, almost empty corners. It is the grid's geometry at work. A cell in the middle has four neighbours and sits inside many more possible clusters than a corner cell with two, so it explodes more often and climbs the ladder faster. The game draws every candy the same way everywhere; there is no hot zone to aim at, and you couldn't aim anyway.

The data
The CSV has one row per base spin and one per bonus round, 2,074 rows in all, with these columns: game, type (base spin or bonus), number, bonus mode (natural, buy, super-buy), win in multiples of the bet, tumbles, highest spot multiplier, scatters on the first grid, free spins, retriggers, whether the spin triggered free spins, Super Scatters and the Super Scatter prize.
